Peptide Melanotan OXY-MT2 (10 mg) OxyPharma
Catalogue entry: Peptide Melanotan OXY-MT2 (10 mg) OxyPharma. Labelled content: 10 mg. Listed pack: 1 vial. The amount identifies labelled product content, not an administration dose.
Identity and mechanism
Melanotan II is a cyclic analogue of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone with activity at melanocortin receptors. It is a different substance from afamelanotide. Its receptor family also helps explain the relationship to PT-141, while the compounds should not be treated as interchangeable products or clinical indications.
What the research measured
Dorr and colleagues reported a small phase I pilot in Life Sciences in 1996. The observations included pigmentation changes and adverse effects such as nausea and fatigue. A very small early study cannot establish long-term skin safety, rule out rare harms or demonstrate protection against ultraviolet damage.
Sporting claims and limitations
In bodybuilding, interest is primarily cosmetic rather than evidence of improved strength or recovery. Changes in pigmentation do not make sun exposure safe. Reports concerning changing moles and other adverse events require careful interpretation; case reports identify safety questions without providing a population-level risk percentage. Historical regulator warnings about cosmetic melanotan products are relevant but must be identified by date.
Product identity and documentation
The selected amount is labelled product content, not a tanning protocol. Check whether documentation identifies Melanotan II specifically, including peptide identity and the actual batch. An authorisation for afamelanotide in a named medicine cannot be transferred to this substance or a supplier vial. A skin-related catalogue association with GHK-Cu likewise does not imply a shared mechanism, benefit or safety profile.
